A mountain range in northwestern France, stretching from Brittany to western Normandy, the Vendée, and Anjou. Almor means "a region close to the sea" in Celtic. It is one of the oldest mountain ranges in France, and is composed of Precambrian metamorphic rocks and Palaeozoic and later sedimentary rocks, with a predominantly west-northwest to east-southeast geological structure. Topographically, it is a plateau and hills with low relief originating from the early Tertiary peneplain, with an average elevation of just over 100m (the highest point is Mont Avaroard at 417m above sea level).
