Born: October 28, 1867 in Badkreuznach German biologist and philosopher of life. After working at the Institute of Biology in Italy from 1891 to 1900, he became an assistant professor at the University of Heidelberg in 1811, a professor at the University of Cologne in 1820, and at the University of Leipzig in 1933. He was initially influenced by E. Haeckel, but after his research in the development of marine animals such as sea urchin eggs in Naples, he became critical of mechanism. He introduced Aristotle's concept of entelecheia, established a supernatural principle as the basis of life phenomena, and advocated a new vitalism. In philosophy, he advocated orderology, and in psychology, he advocated parapsychology. In 1847, the Driesch Society was founded in Regensburg. His main works include Geschichte des Vitalismus (1905), Leib und Seele (16), and Parapsychologie (32).
