Embezzlement in the course of business - gyomujouoryozai

Embezzlement of property belonging to another person in one's possession in the course of business (Article 253 of the Penal Code). Punishable by imprisonment of up to 10 years. "Business" refers to activities that are repeated or continued in social life, and does not have to be activities that are part of a job or occupation. A typical example of this crime is when a company employee or public servant embezzles cash that is under their control.

業務上、自己の占有する他人の物を横領する罪（刑法253条）。10年以下の懲役に処せられる。「業務」とは、社会生活において反覆または継続して行われる活動であり、仕事や職業としての活動であることを要しない。会社員や公務員などが、管理している現金を着服する場合が本罪の典型である。
