Jichi Medical University

Private. A medical university jointly established by all prefectures in 1972 with the aim of securing and improving medical care in remote areas with limited medical care and promoting the welfare of local residents. It is run by a school corporation with each local government bearing its operating costs. Every year, students are selected from each prefecture, and upon graduation, they return to their home prefecture to work in local medical care. Students are given loans to cover the costs of their studies, and if they work at a public hospital or similar for a certain period after graduation, they are exempt from repaying the loans. It has a School of Medicine, a School of Nursing, a Graduate School of Medicine, and a Graduate School of Nursing, as well as an affiliated hospital, Tochigi Children's Medical Center, and a separate affiliated Saitama Medical Center. Located at 3311-1 Yakushiji, Shimotsuke City, Tochigi Prefecture.

私立。医療に恵まれない僻地(へきち)等の医療の確保と向上および地域住民の福祉の増進を目的として、1972年(昭和47)全国の都道府県が共同設立した医科大学。運営分担金をそれぞれの自治体が負担する学校法人により運営。毎年各都道府県からの応募学生を選抜し、卒業後学生はその出身都道府県に戻り、地域医療に従事する。学生には修学に要する経費を貸与し、卒業後所定の期間、公立病院等に勤務した場合、その返還が免除される。医学部、看護学部と大学院医学研究科、看護学研究科を置き、附属病院、とちぎ子ども医療センターと、別に附属さいたま医療センターをもつ。栃木県下野(しもつけ)市薬師寺3311-1。
