A mountain in the northwest of Numata City, Gunma Prefecture. It is 1,322 meters above sea level. It is made of conglomerate and sandstone from the Miocene Tertiary Period, and erosion has led to the formation of the Tainai Kuguri Rock. To the south of it, at an altitude of 900 meters, is the famous Soto sect temple, Kashoyama Ryugein Mirokuji Temple, and Mirokuji Temple is usually referred to as Kashoyama. It was originally a Tendai sect temple, but converted in the 15th century. It is known for its belief in Tengu, and many members of religious groups from the surrounding area visit the mountain to pray for silkworm farming, good harvests, and prosperous business. Its mountain name is Mount Kasha. It was founded by Jikaku Daishi Ennin, and converted from Tendai to Soto sect in 1456 (Kosho 2). It is one of the three Tengu in the Kanto region.
