〘Noun〙 A tuning device used by blind koto players during the Edo period. It is about 7.5 centimeters long. It is a tube made of bamboo or ivory , about 1.5 centimeters in diameter, with one end covered with a thin plate and three holes on the front and one on the back. The holes are opened and closed with the fingers of the left hand, the open end is brought close to the ear and the closed end is flicked to hear the sound. 〘名〙 江戸時代、盲人箏曲家に用いられた調律器具。全長約七・五センチメートル。直径約一・五センチメートルの竹または象牙(ぞうげ)製の管で、一端を薄板でおおい、管の前面に三穴、背面に一穴を設ける。左手指で穴を開閉し、開端を耳に近づけ、閉面をはじいて音を聞く。〔八帖花伝書(1573‐92)〕
