A directive issued by the General Headquarters of the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers to the Japanese government. It is the basic document of occupation policy, but unlike Germany, where the Allied Powers directly administered the military, this memorandum was used to have the Japanese government carry out the directive, making it a form of indirect rule, and it was characterized by the unified administration of the occupation through the Japanese government. Directives were formally in the form of memorandums, but sometimes they were in the form of letters from the Supreme Commander. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
General Headquarters of the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powersが日本政府に対して発する指令。
