Numerical analysis generally refers to methods for finding approximate solutions to various problems that arise in mathematics, such as finding solutions to equations, finding functions that satisfy certain conditions, finding solutions to differential equations, finding definite integrals of functions, finding the maximum or minimum of functions of multiple variables, with the required accuracy and in a finite number of operations, as well as theories on guaranteeing the accuracy of these methods. With the development of electronic computers, numerical analysis is becoming increasingly important in all areas where mathematics is applied. In recent years, the analysis of natural phenomena using numerical methods, and especially the mathematical foundations for this purpose, are also sometimes referred to as numerical analysis.
