Wild Bill Hickok

A gunfighter in the American West. His real name was James Butler Hickok. After working as a stagecoach driver and other roles, he served as a scout for the Union Army during the Civil War. After the war, he served as a sheriff in Abilene, a famous cattle herding town, and other parts of Kansas, where he defeated outlaws on the frontier one after another. He eventually participated in the Gold Rush in the Black Hills of the Dakota Territory, but was shot in the back while playing cards. His pistol is said to have had 27 notches from murders.

アメリカ西部のガンマン。本名ジェームズ･バトラー･ヒコックJames Butler Hickok。駅馬車の御者などをした後，南北戦争で北軍のスカウトを務め，戦後，牛の集合地として名高いアビリーンほか，カンザス州の各地で保安官をし，辺境の無法者をつぎつぎと倒したらしい。やがてダコタ準州ブラック･ヒルズのゴールドラッシュに参加したが，カードゲーム中に背後から射殺された。彼のピストルには，人を殺した刻み目が27個つけられていたという。
