Three years old - Sansai

They refer to heaven, earth, and man, and are also called the three materials and the three poles. They refer to the fundamental workings of the universe, and are an ancient Chinese idea that originated in the "Xieci Zhuan" in the Book of Changes. It is said that the path of heaven, earth, and man is shown in the six lines of one hexagram. Water, wood, and fire are also called the three materials. 天、地、人をいい、また三材(さんざい)、三極(さんきょく)ともいう。宇宙の根源的働きをいい、『周易(しゅうえき)』の「繋辞伝(けいじでん)」から出た中国古代の思想である。一卦(か)の六爻(こう)に、天地人の道が示されているとする。別に水、木、火を三材という。人間生活の根源的素材という意味である。観相(かんそう)学上からは、顔面を額門、準頭(じゅんとう)（鼻）、地閣（顎(あご)）の三才とする。また、3人の才能ある人という意味で、それぞれの時代の人物を選ぶこともある。
