A modern port located at the mouth of the Yahagi River in Mikawa Province (Aichi Prefecture). It was the outer port of the Nishio Domain, and from the Genroku era (1688-1704) there were three wholesalers, Ichikawa, Toyama, and Niimi. There were always more than 100 laborers handling land cargo, and in 1745 (Enkyo 2), there were eight Edo cargo ships, including medium-sized ships that traveled back and forth between the ports of Ise Bay, and it flourished as a base for shipping Mikawa cotton. Boats on the Yahagi River went up from Hirasaka loaded with dried sardines, fish cakes, fish oil, soybeans, and other products, and went down from the upstream with charcoal, split wood, bamboo, and other products.
