Sangeoujouki - The Tale of Three Dead Men

Japanese: 三外往生記 - さんげおうじょうき

Written by Renzen. This is a Chinese-style biographie of the deceased, which supplements omissions in the biographies of the deceased written by Yoshishige Yasutane, Oe Masafusa, and Miyoshi Tameyasu, and adds new information from the author. The date of its creation is unknown, but it was compiled after Ryohan's death in January of 1139 (Hōen 5). Yoshimasa, who copied this book in 1220 (Jokyu 2), deleted five people who overlapped with Shui Ojoden, and the version that became widespread was the biographies of 51 monks, nuns, and lay people, both men and women. There are eight examples of biographies that overlap with Shui Ojoden and Goshui Ojoden, but this is thought to be because the compilation of this book was conducted at the same time, or because the book was not yet finalized.

蓮禅撰。慶滋保胤（よししげのやすたね），大江匡房，三善為康の往生伝の遺漏を補い，新たに著者の伝聞を加えて編纂した漢文体の往生者の伝記。成立年代は不明だが，1139年(保延5)正月没の良範伝以後である。1220年(承久2)に本書を書写した慶政が《拾遺往生伝》と重複する5人を削除したものが流布し，51人の僧尼･俗人男女の伝からなる。《拾遺往生伝》《後拾遺往生伝》と重複する伝が8例あるが，これは本書の編纂と時期的に平行していたため，または本書が未定稿のためとも考えられている。
