…In terms of organization, the Union of Radical Political Economy was formed in 1968 at the University of Michigan. While publishing its own journal and newsletter, it also actively contributes to existing economics journals, exerting a certain influence on graduate students who are critical of the undemocratic tendency of American politics. Representative economists of this school include Samuel Bowles (1939- ), known for papers such as “IQ in the American Class Structure,” and Herbert Gintis (1940- ). Radical economists have not been as active recently as they once were, but their modest research continues to this day. …
