A gastropod of the family Caragana, class of the phylum Mollusca. It inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms at depths of 20 to 200 meters in the western Pacific Ocean south of the Boso Peninsula. Its shell is thin and low cone-shaped, reaching a height of 40 mm and a diameter of 100 mm. The shell surface has many obliquely contracted folds, and in the upper spiral layer, small shells and pebbles are attached to the surface, but as it grows, these gradually disappear. In the body layer, the sides hang down half beyond the edge, and there are large wavy indentations around them. The name is thought to be a reference to this appearance, which resembles a cloak hat. The base of the shell is flat and yellowish-white, and there is a clear boundary between the bottom and the part where the side edges extend beyond the edge to form an umbrella shape. The umbilicus is wide. The operculum is pale yellow and translucent, and the nucleus is located on the outside.
