Indigoid dyes

Japanese: インジゴイド染料 - いんじごいどせんりょう（英語表記）indigoid dyes

This refers to a group of vat dyes with properties and structure similar to indigo. There are indigo type, thioindigo type, and mixed type. These dyes are also included in the soluble reduced form of -ONa or -OSO ₃ Na. The types of substituents used as indigo-thioindigo derivative dyes include -Cl, -Br, -CH ₃ , -OCH ₃ , and -OC ₂ H _5. The thioindigo type is characterized by orange to red to purple, while the indigo type is characterized by blue. The method of reduction and solubilization involves reducing the dye with chlorosulfonic acid and zinc powder in pyridine to convert it into the ω-sulfonic acid form.
