Sariwon - Sariin

A city in the western part of North Hwanghae Province, North Korea. It is the seat of the province and the administrative centre of the province. It is located on the eastern side of the Jaeryeong Plain, the largest plain in North Korea, and has been a distribution centre for agricultural products from the Jaeryeong Plain since ancient times, but after liberation in 1945, light industry, including general machinery factories, foodstuffs, daily necessities and textile factories, has developed rapidly. It is at the junction of the Pyeonggui-Hwanghae Line and is a key transportation hub between South Hwanghae Province and North Hwanghae Province. Sariwon University of Education is located there.

北朝鮮、黄海北道(こうかいほくどう／ファンヘプクド)西部にある都市。道の所在地で、道行政の中心地。北朝鮮でもっとも広い載寧平野の東側にあり、古来より載寧(さいねい／チェリョン)平野の農産物の集散地であるが、1945年解放後は総合機械工場や食料品、日用品、繊維工場など軽工業が飛躍的に発展した。交通は平義・黄海線の交差点で、黄海南道(なんどう／ナムド)・北道の交通の要所。沙里院師範大学がある。
