The dominance of one hand, leg, etc. over the other. Many parts of the human body are shaped the same on both the left and right sides. For example, the hands, feet, eyes, and ears are paired, with one on each side. These body parts are not always used on both the left and right sides; there are actions and situations in which only one side is used. Take the hands for example, when writing, drawing, or throwing a ball. It is more efficient to use one hand rather than both. In such situations, only the right or left side is used.
