Yoshishima-so

Japanese:
Yoshishima-so
A manor in Iwaki County, Mutsu Province. The manor area stretches from the center of Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture to the northeastern coast. It was the territory of Yamashiro Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine, and was in fact the Kanto Imperial Territory. In 1186, the Iwaki clan, the development lord, built a shrine (Iino Hachiman Shrine) in Yoshijimago, inviting the deity of Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine, and is thought to have established a manor as the shrine's territory. At the beginning of the 13th century, the total number of fields was 523 cho, of which 297 cho were fixed fields. The Iwaki clan subsequently held the position of land steward hereditary. Chiba Tsunetane was appointed as the land steward, and in 1208, during the time of Tsunetane's son, Osuga Tanenobu, the manor was divided into East and West Manors with the Natsui River as the border. The East Manor stewardship was inherited by the Osuga clan for a long time, but the West Manor became hereditary from 1247 to the Iga clan. The annual tax to the shogunate was, in principle, one piece of silk per town. There were constant disputes between the land stewards and the yoroshi over the payment of taxes, but by the mid-15th century, the land steward Iwaki clan's control had spread to the entire Iwaki district, and Koshima Manor was dissolved.
