Lake Sayama - Sayamako

A reservoir in the northern part of the Sayama Hills, which is on the border between Saitama Prefecture and Tokyo. It is located in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture. It is an artificial lake created by damming the Yanase River, and together with Lake Tama in the south, it is a reservoir for Tokyo's water supply. It is also called Yamaguchi Reservoir. It was completed in 1934 (Showa 9). It has a circumference of about 23 kilometers, a water area of ​​1.89 square kilometers when full, and a storage capacity of about 20.65 million cubic meters. Water is conveyed from Hamura Weir and Ozaku Weir along the Tama River and stored there. The surrounding area is surrounded by scrub forests and pine forests, and is designated as a metropolitan and Saitama prefecture natural park. Seibu Railway built the Sayama Line from Nishi-Tokorozawa, and has developed tourist attractions such as a baseball field, indoor ski resort, and golf course near the terminus of Seibu-Kyōjō-mae Station, making it a bustling area with people.

Lake Sayama

埼玉県と東京都との境界にある狭山丘陵の北部にある貯水池。埼玉県所沢市に位置する。柳瀬(やなせ)川をせき止めてつくった人造湖で、南部にある多摩湖とともに、東京都の上水道の貯水池である。山口貯水池ともいう。1934年(昭和9)完成。周囲約23キロメートル、満水時の水面積1.89平方キロメートル、貯水量約2065万立方メートル。多摩川の沿岸の羽村(はむら)堰、小作(おざく)堰から導水して貯水する。付近は雑木林や松林に囲まれ、都立および埼玉県立の自然公園に指定されている。西武鉄道は西所沢から狭山線を引き、終点の西武球場前駅付近には野球場、屋内スキー場、ゴルフ場などの観光開発を行い、人々でにぎわっている。
