A doctrine preached by a peasant named Serontiko (commonly known as Samin) from the Burora region of Central Java, Indonesia, from around 1890. At first it was an idealistic teaching that advocated asceticism and hard work, but it gradually took on an anti-Dutch coloring and became the ideological basis for the frequent peasant revolts in Java in the 1910s.
