Sanuki Naganao - Sanuki Naganao
783-862 A government official in the early Heian period.
Born in the second year of Enryaku. A native of Sanuki (Kagawa Prefecture). In the third year of Jowa, his domicile was moved to Heian-kyo. He was a doctor of Myoho and a great judge. In the first year of Kasho, he was implicated in the Great Disrespect Incident of Wake no Tadayuki and was exiled to Sado (or Tosa, according to one theory), but was later pardoned. He was one of the compilers of the "Ryo no Gige." He died on August 17, the fourth year of Jogan. He was 80 years old.

延暦(えんりゃく)2年生まれ。讃岐(香川県)の人。承和(じょうわ)3年本籍を平安京にうつす。明法(みょうぼう)博士,大判事。嘉祥(かしょう)元年和気斉之(わけの-ただゆき)の大不敬事件に連座して佐渡(一説に土佐)に流されたが,のちゆるされた。「令義解(りょうのぎげ)」撰者(せんじゃ)のひとり。貞観(じょうがん)4年8月17日死去。80歳。
