The name of a fabric weave. In Japanese, it is called shusu. The warp and weft threads are spaced apart at regular intervals, and the weft or warp threads often float. It is lustrous, soft, slippery, and resistant to friction. It is called multi-ply satin weave depending on the number of healds. The basic weaves are regular satin weave, warp satin weave, and weft satin weave, and there are other variations such as irregular satin weave, spread satin weave, layered satin weave, day and night satin weave, shading satin weave, and granite weave. The English word satin originally referred to fabrics made of long fibers such as silk or artificial fibers, and those made of short fibers such as cotton and wool are called sateen. The patterns are plain, printed, crested, striped, and plaid. There are a wide variety of types and names depending on the fibers, weave, patterns made of colored threads, and other patterns.
