Waga-Hienuki Uprising

Japanese: 和賀･稗貫一揆 - わがひえぬきいっき

An uprising occurred in Mutsu Province in 1590 (Tensho 18). In July of that year, Toyotomi Hideyoshi transferred the "Seven Nanbu Counties" to Nanbu Nobunao, and Waga and Hienuki counties were incorporated into the Nanbu territory, and the Waga and Hienuki clans lost their previous lordship. Following an uprising in the former territories of the Kasai and Osaki clans in October of that year, Waga Yoshitada and Hienuki Hirotada led their clans and invited Oniyanagi Iga-no-kami and others to besiege Asano Shozaemon Shigekichi, who was under Hideyoshi's command, at Toyagasaki Castle in Hienuki County. Upon receiving the urgent news, Nanbu Nobunao repelled the rebels and rescued Shigekichi.

1590年(天正18)陸奥国に起きた一揆。同年7月，豊臣秀吉による南部信直に対する〈南部内七郡〉宛行によって，和賀･稗貫両郡は南部領に編入され，和賀･稗貫両氏は従来の領主権を失った。同年10月葛西･大崎氏の旧領に一揆が蜂起したのに続いて，和賀義忠と稗貫広忠は一族以下を率い，鬼柳伊賀守らをさそって，稗貫郡鳥谷ヶ崎（とやがさき）城に秀吉麾下の浅野庄左衛門重吉を攻囲した。急報に接した南部信直によって一揆勢は退けられ，重吉は救出された。
