Son of Prince Fushiminomiya Yoshihito. Father of Emperor Gohanazono. His birth mother was a daughter of Chunagon Sanjo Saneharu, a member of the West Court. He came of age in 1411 (Oei 18) at the age of 40. After the death of his elder brother Prince Haruhito, he succeeded the Fushiminomiya family at the age of 46, and in April 1422, he became the adopted son of Emperor Gokomatsu and was proclaimed prince. Soon after, rumors spread that Sadanari would succeed to the throne in place of Emperor Shoko, who was sickly and had no heir. Following the wishes of Emperor Gokomatsu, who was concerned about the situation, he shaved his head in July of the same year. His posthumous name was Dokin. When Emperor Shoko died in 28 (Shocho 1), Sadahira's son Prince Hikohito became the adopted son of Emperor Gokomatsu and ascended to the throne as Emperor Gohanazono. Sadahira desired the title of Retired Emperor, and received it in 47 (Bun'an 4). He died on August 29, 2nd year of the Kōshō era. His posthumous name was Gosukoin. His diary "Kanmon Gyoki", written with a strong sense of curiosity and thirst for knowledge, has been handed down in the original handwritten version. His other works include "Chin'yōki", about the imperial lineage, written for Emperor Gohanazono, and "Sagyokushu", a collection of poems.
