A symptom seen in aphasia, which refers to the phenomenon of using the wrong language. There are graphemic paraphasias and wordemic paraphasias. The former is a disorder of word construction, such as the substitution or omission of sounds in one word, while the latter is an error in word selection or usage, resulting in the use of a completely different word. In reality, the two types coexist. Source: Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia About Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia Information |
