One of the events held in the Muromachi Shogunate. During the Muromachi period, when rituals in samurai society became more prevalent, many Shogunate affairs were also held annually as auspicious or customary practices. Sata means trial or command, and records from the mid-Muromachi period show such events as Gozen Gosatahajime, Muromachidono (Shogun) Gosatahajime, Bakufu Satahajime, Samurai-dokoro Satahajime, Ko-samurai-dokoro Satahajime, and Mandokoro Gosatahajime. The Shogun, Shogunate, and various government offices handling legal trials each set their own ceremonial dates. Of these, Gozen Gosatahajime and Muromachidono Gosatahajime are, needless to say, the Shogunate's Satahajime, held in front of the Shogun, and since the time of Ashikaga Yoshimichi, the ceremonial dates have been February 17th of each year.
