Born on March 11, 1866. Moved to Tokyo in 1883 and worked at Azusa Ono's Toyokan Bookstore. Founded Tomiyamabo in 1886. Published works including Yoshida Togo's "Dai Nihon Chimei Jisho" (Great Japanese Place Name Dictionary), Otsuki Fumihiko's "Daigenkai" (Great Genkai), and "Kokumin Hyakka Daijiten" (National Encyclopedia).
