Japanese: 九竜半島 - きゅうりゅうはんとう

It is located in the southern part of Guangdong Province, China, east of the mouth of the Pearl River, facing Hong Kong Island across the sea. The northern part is mostly alluvial land used for rice paddies, farmland, and fishponds, while the southern and eastern parts are mountainous and lack lowlands. The eastern part in particular has a ria coast with many bays and small islands. It was originally part of Xinan County, but in 1860 (the 10th year of the Xianfeng era), the southern tip of the peninsula was ceded to Britain by the Treaty of Beijing, and in 1898 (the 24th year of the Guangxu era), the area south of the Shenzhen River in the northern part of the peninsula and the nearby islands became a compulsory leasehold territory of the British. Its area of 985.8 ^km2 accounts for about 90% of the entire Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

中国広東省の南部，珠江河口の東側にあり，海を隔てて香港島と対峙する。北部は沖積地が多く水田，畑，養魚池として利用され，南･東部は山がちで低地に乏しい。特に東部はリアス式海岸で，湾入と小島が多い。もと新安県に属したが，1860年(咸豊10)北京条約により半島の南端がイギリスに割譲され，1898年(光緒24)重ねて半島北部の深圳（しんせん）河以南の地域および付近の諸島がイギリスの強制租借地となった。面積985.8km²で香港特別行政区全体の約90％を占める。
