A mystical thought that originated from ancient Chinese mythology, arose during the Warring States period, became popular during the Qin and Han dynasties, and reached its peak during the Wei and Jin dynasties. It says that immortals are the realization of real human desires and are immortal. To become an immortal, there are methods of training and taking medicine, and it was assimilated with Taoism over the methods. At the end of the Eastern Han dynasty, it influenced and developed in the theory of the Five Pours of Rice Tao and the theory of divination. The representative work of immortal thought is the Baopuzi, which was later assimilated with Buddhism and took on a complex content. It is said to have been introduced to Japan in the 5th century, and later Yoshino and other places came to be considered places of Shinto and Buddhism. → Related items: Image mirror | Image stone | Divine beast mirror | Queen Mother of the West | Immortals | Gardens | Biographies of immortals | Taoism Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
