This is the diary of Saito Chikamoto from 1465 to 1467 (Kansho 6 to Onin 1). Chikamoto was a magistrate of the Muromachi Shogunate. It details the participants in events such as Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa's pilgrimage to Ise Shrine and the Hojoe Ceremony at Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine. As Chikamoto was also a member of the Mandokoro Association and a member of the Gozensataishū (Imperial Court Decision-making Group), the diary contains many entries about matters relating to the Mandokoro, such as the start of the Mandokoro Council and the collection of land tax in the capital, as well as matters relating to the Gozensataishū (Imperial Court Decision-making Committee), the Gozensataishū (Imperial Court Decision-making Committee), and opinions of the palace, making it important for understanding the Shogunate structure of the time. Included in Gunsho Ruiju and Zoku Shiryō Taisei. [Torii Kazuyuki] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
