[Born] 1886 [Died] 1971 German geographer. He studied at the University of Berlin and later taught in Greifswald, Weig, Stuttgart, and other cities. He drew inspiration from the methodology of physical geography to create his own system of landscape research. In the 1920s he advocated geopolitics, but later moved away from this to study agricultural geography and the Iberian Peninsula. His main work is Iberische Halbinsel (1964).
