A mathematical formula that theoretically abstracts the progress of reproduction of total social capital in capitalist society, developed in Chapters 20-21 of Volume 2 of Capital. K. Marx divided the process of reproduction into simple reproduction, which is the repetition of production on the same scale, and expanded reproduction, in which capital accumulates and production expands, and attempted to capture the equilibrium conditions in each case using the reproduction formula. The reproduction formula divides total social capital into the means of production sector and the consumer goods production sector, and is constructed to capture the movement of constant capital, variable capital, and surplus value in each sector. In simple reproduction, the total variable capital and surplus value produced in the means of production sector must be equal to the value of constant capital consumed in the consumer goods production sector, while in the case of expanded reproduction, the total variable capital and surplus value in the means of production sector must be greater than the constant capital consumed in the consumer goods production sector.

『資本論』第2巻，第 20～21章において展開されている資本主義社会における社会的総資本の再生産の進行を理論的に抽象した計数表式。 K.マルクスは再生産の過程を，同一規模での生産の反復である単純再生産と，資本が蓄積され，生産が拡大する拡大再生産とに区分し，それぞれの場合における均衡条件を再生産表式によってとらえようとした。再生産表式は社会的総資本を生産手段生産部門と消費財生産部門に2分し，それぞれにおける不変資本・可変資本および剰余価値の運動をとらえる形で構成されている。単純再生産においては，生産手段生産部門で生産された可変資本および剰余価値総額が消費財生産部門で消費された不変資本価値額に等しく，拡大再生産の場合は，生産手段生産部門での可変資本，剰余価値総額が消費財生産部門で消費された不変資本より大きくなければならない，という2つの均衡条件が示されている。
