Maximum and minimum thermometer - Saikou Saitei Ondokei

A thermometer that measures the maximum and minimum temperatures over a certain period of time, for example, a day. It has two toluene reservoirs in a U-shaped glass tube, one of which has air bubbles in it. When the temperature rises, the bubbles expand and push out the toluene, causing the mercury column to move in the opposite direction to the bubbles. When the temperature drops, the bubbles contract and the mercury column moves in the opposite direction, that is, toward the toluene reservoir containing the bubbles. Blue glass containing cobalt is placed on both ends of the mercury column in the U-shaped glass tube, and if a magnet is placed over the top of the mercury column, the two cobalt glasses will record the maximum and minimum temperatures over a certain period of time according to the movement of the mercury column.
