Saikai [town] - Saikai
An old town in the northern part of the Nishisonogi Peninsula, Nishisonogi County, Nagasaki Prefecture. Small settlements such as Omodaka and Nanatsugama are scattered here and there, and farming is carried out on the lava plateau and pearl farming is carried out in Kawauchiura. Yokoseura was famous as a trading post before the port of Nagasaki was opened. The summit of Kokuzo Mountain, a debris hill, offers excellent views and is home to Kotohira Shrine. In the southern part of the town is the Nanatsugama Limestone Cave (a natural monument). In April 2005, the town merged with Nishisonogi County's Nishisonogi Town, Oshima Town, Sakito Town, and Oseto Town to become a city, Saikai City. 67.23 km2 . 9,229 people (2003).

Nishiumi [town]

A former town in Minamiuwa District, at the southern tip of Ehime Prefecture. It occupies a meandering peninsula and nearby islands on the northern side of Sukumo Bay. Fishing is the main industry, and the main settlement, Funakoshi, is a small fishing port on an isthmus. The ria coast is part of Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park. Get there by bus from Uwajima City. In October 2004, it merged with Mishou Town, Gusuku Town, Ipponmatsu Town, and Utsumi Village in Minamiuwa District to form Ainan Town in Minamiuwa District. 21.80 km2 . 3,300 people (2003).

西海[町]【にしうみ】

愛媛県南端,南宇和郡の旧町。宿毛(すくも)湾の北側,屈曲の多い半島と付近の島々を占める。水産業が主で,主集落の船越は地峡部にある小漁港。リアス式の海岸は足摺宇和海国立公園の一部。宇和島市からバス。2004年10月南宇和郡御荘町,城辺町,一本松町,内海村と合併し,南宇和郡愛南町となる。21.80km2。3300人(2003)。
