Tengu no Meshigai - Tengu no Meshigai

Japanese: テングノメシガイ - てんぐのめしがい

This mushroom belongs to the Ascogynycete, Discomycete, Amanita order, Amanita family, and grows on the soil in forests and gardens from summer to autumn. It is named after its black, spatula-shaped structure with a long stem. It is covered with fine black hairs and grows to a height of 2-8cm. Although it has a unique shape, it is similar to the Trichoglossum, with spore-forming organs (ascocarps) densely packed in the head. The scientific name Trichoglossum means "hairy tongue" and hirsutum means "hairy".

夏から秋にかけて林や庭園の土の上に発生する，子囊菌類盤菌類ビョウタケ目テングノメシガイ科のキノコ。全体は黒く柄の長いへら形となるところから，この名がある。全面に黒い微細な毛が生えていて，高さ2～8cmになる。特異な形をしているがチャワンタケに近いもので，頭部に胞子を形成する器官(子囊果)が密に埋まっている。学名のTrichoglossumは〈毛のある舌〉，hirsutumは〈あらい毛のある〉の意味である。
