…She contributed to the development of British ballet by dancing with the Camargo Society, the first ballet company in Britain (1931), as well as with the Ballet Rambert and the Big Wells Ballet. She often guest-performed with European and American ballet companies, and in 1935, together with Anton Dolin (1904-1983), she founded the Markowa-Dolin Ballet (1935-38, 1945). She was Britain's first ballerina, and one of the last to maintain the style of 19th-century classical ballet. …
