Huang Yuan Yong (English: Huáng Yuǎn yōng)
1884‐1915
Chinese journalist. Born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, his original name was Weiji, his courtesy name was Yuanyong, and his pen name was Yuansheng, also known as Huang Yuansheng. After returning from studying in Japan, he was active in the newspaper world. In the early years of the Republic of China, he made a name for himself as a Beijing correspondent for the Shanghai Times, and was praised on par with Shao Piaoping of the Shenbao and Zhang Jilun of the Xinhuabao. Due to his fame, he was appointed editor-in-chief of the Asia Daily by Yuan Shikai as a vanguard of the imperial system, and was assassinated in San Francisco by anti-imperialists. [Hasama Naoki]

中国のジャーナリスト。浙江省杭州の人,原名は為基,遠庸は字,遠生と号し,黄遠生とも称される。日本留学より帰国後,新聞界で活躍した。民国初年,上海の《時報》の北京特派員として鳴らし,《申報》の邵飄萍,《新聞報》の張季鸞と並称された。その名声ゆえに,袁世凱により帝制のお先棒かつぎとして《亜細亜報》の総編集に任ぜられたため,反帝制派によりサンフランシスコで暗殺された。【狭間 直樹】
