Year of death: 31.3.1 (570.3.22) Year of birth: Year of birth unknown. Minister in the reign of Emperor Senka and Emperor Kinmei. Also written as Iname or Inamae. Grandson of Kanshi. Son of Koryo. Father of Umako, Katashiohime, Oane no Kimi, and Ishisuna. Grandfather to Emperor Yomei, Sushun, and Suiko. Appointed as a Minister in 536, and reappointed as a Minister when Emperor Kinmei ascended to the throne. He married his daughters Katashiohime and Oane no Kimi to the Emperor, and they each bore seven sons and six daughters, including Emperor Suiko and Emperor Yomei, and four sons and one daughter, including Emperor Sushun and Prince Anahobe, successfully raising the royal family of the Soga clan. In the 7th year of the Kinmei era, Bogo (Bogo is 538, which corresponds to the 3rd year of Propaganda in the Nihon Shoki), when King Seongmyeong of Baekje presented him with a Buddha statue and sutras, he placed the statue in the Okinada family home and showed his willingness to accept it by turning the Mukaihara family home into a temple. This led to conflict with the Mononobe and Nakatomi clans, who tried to eliminate Buddhism, and on the pretext of an epidemic, the Buddha statues were dumped in Horie in Naniwa and the temple was burned. On the other hand, he also used immigrants to organize the family registers of Shiroino Tonokura in Kibi (Ochiai Town, Okayama Prefecture) and Kojima Tonokura (Okayama City), and worked to strengthen the Yamato government's control over the whole country. It is said that in the 23rd year of the reign of Emperor Kinmei, Otomo no Satehiko, who returned from the peninsula, married two women who had been presented to him, and had them serve at Karugakuden (Sakurai City). The Gangoji Engi states that he died in the year of the Ox (the 30th year of the reign of Emperor Kinmei, 569).
