Takeno Shokudan - Buyashokudan

Japanese: 武野燭談 - ぶやしょくだん

This book records the accomplishments and words of successive shoguns, three families, senior councilors, hatamoto, daimyo, and their retainers from the first Tokugawa Ieyasu to the fifth Tokugawa Tsunayoshi in the early Edo period. It has 30 volumes. The most likely author is Kimura Takaatsu. It was completed in 1709 (6th year of the Hoei era). The main text consists of 173 entries, arranged chronologically, and was written down whenever it came up. Its main purpose is to help readers understand the character of people in politics and society, focusing on the principles and human feelings of the upper samurai classes, and covers about 100 people, including Tokugawa Ieyasu, Sakai Tadakatsu, Doi Toshikatsu, and Itakura Shigemune.

江戸時代前期，初代徳川家康から5代綱吉に至る歴代将軍，三家，老中，旗本，諸大名とその家臣の事績や言行を書き留めた書。30巻。著者は木村高敦（たかあつ）が有力とされる。1709年(宝永6)成立。本文は173項目からなるが年次を追って配列されたもので，おりに触れて随時書き留めたもの。上層武家の義理，人情を中心に政治，社会の人間像を理解させることを主目的としており，徳川家康，酒井忠勝，土井利勝，板倉重宗など約100名に及んでいる。
