…It is a type of congenital heart disease, and is a typical disease that shows cyanosis. Since Étienne LAFallot (1850-1911), a French physician, described four anatomical characteristics of this disease in 1888, his name has been used as the name of the disease. The tetralogy is pulmonary artery stenosis or atresia, ventricular septal defect, aortic overriding, and right ventricular hypertrophy, of which the first two are essential lesions and the latter two are secondary lesions. Because the right ventricular outflow tract is narrowed or atretic and there is a large ventricular septal defect, the right ventricular pressure increases, and some of the venous blood flows from the right ventricle through the ventricular septal defect to the aorta. …
