The average snowline of a glacier in a given region is called the regional snowline or climatic snowline, and several approximation methods have been devised. The position of the equilibrium line of a glacier varies greatly depending on the topography around the glacier and the distribution shape of the glacier, so the snowline determined based on the equilibrium line of each glacier is called the orographic snowline. In contrast, the average snowline of a glacier in a given region is called the regional snowline or climatic snowline, and several approximation methods have been devised.
