Korat Plateau

A plateau occupying the eastern part of Thailand. Undeveloped land with lots of grassland and forests. Many Laotians live here, and Khmer cultural ruins remain in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) and other areas. It is part of the Mekong River system, has an average altitude of 100-200m, poor soil, and an unstable climate. Paddy rice, cassava, and other crops are cultivated here, but productivity is low due to soil erosion and little rain.
