Heinzelmännchen (English spelling)

Japanese: ハインツェル小僧 - ハインツェルこぞう（英語表記）Heinzelmännchen

A dwarf-like house spirit that appears in German legends. He is cheerful and mischievous, but does not cause any serious harm to people. As long as he does not upset them, he will finish their work at night and give them predictions and warnings. The Heinzel Boys of Cologne and Lüneburg (Hudemühle House) are famous, the former of which is sung in a poem by August Kopisch (1799-1853), and the latter of which is included in the collection of legends by the Brothers Grimm. Even today, people use the Heinzel Boy to describe someone who has completed their errands without them knowing, or who has a useful secretary.

ドイツの伝説に登場する小人姿の家の精。陽気でいたずら好きだが，人に大きな危害を加えることはなく，機嫌を損じないかぎり夜の間に仕事を片づけてくれたり，予言や警告をしたりする。ケルンとリューネブルク(フーデミューレ館)のハインツェル小僧が名高く，前者はコーピシュAugust Kopisch(1799‐1853)の譚詩にうたわれ，後者はグリム兄弟の伝説集に逸話が収められている。用事が知らぬ間に済んでいたり，重宝な秘書がいたりすると，現代でも〈ハインツェル小僧〉を引いて表現する。
