A scholar of the Liang and Chen dynasties of the Southern Dynasties in China. Born in Wu (Suzhou, Jiangsu Province). He became a doctor of the University of Liang and a doctor of the State of Chen, and was in charge of the compilation of the national history. He was a well-read scholar and wrote many books, but his most famous work is the dictionary "Yupian." The original was lost, but it was reworked during the Tang and Song dynasties and was widely used until the Qing dynasty.

中国，南朝の梁，陳の学者。呉 (江蘇省蘇州) の人。梁の大学博士，陳の国子博士となり，国史の編纂を総管した。博覧の学者で撰著も多いが，字書の『玉篇』は特に有名で，原本は散逸したが，唐，宋代に重修されて清代にいたるまで広く用いられた。
