A former town in Mitsu District, central Okayama Prefecture. It is made up of the midstream Asahi River basin and the Kibi Plateau region, with the Tsuyama Line and National Route 53 running along the river. The town produces tobacco, grapes, controlled-cultivation vegetables, and matsutake mushrooms, and also has hot springs. Formerly the Takase Funagawa Port, Fukuwatari is now the commercial center of the area. The Asahikawa Dam is located in the north. 岡山県中部,御津(みつ)郡の旧町。旭川中流域と吉備(きび)高原地域からなり,川沿いに津山線,国道53号線が通じる。タバコ,ブドウ,抑制栽培の野菜,マツタケを産し,温泉もある。もと高瀬舟河港であった福渡(ふくわたり)は現在付近の商業中心。北部に旭川ダムがある。2007年1月,赤磐郡瀬戸町と岡山市へ編入。89.53km2。6521人(2005)。
