Japanese: 御判御教書 - ごはんのみぎょうしょ

A direct letter in the form of a gokyosho, to which the Ashikaga Shogun or Muromachi Lord (those with political powers after Yoshimitsu) added their own kao or signature. Generally, gokyosho are often in the hosho style, but this gokyosho is distinctive in that it is a direct letter. However, even though it is a direct letter, most are written in yuteki (a formal handwriting), and even the kao and signature are not necessarily handwritten. Another direct letter issued by the Ashikaga Shogun and Muromachi Lord was the gonaisho, but as a political document of the samurai class, the gonaisho was an unofficial document, and was more like a letter and did not include the era name in the date.

足利将軍ないし室町殿(義満以降の政務権者)が，自身の花押もしくは自署を加える直状形式の御教書。一般に，御教書は奉書形式のものが多いが，この御教書は直状である点が特徴である。ただし直状といっても多くは右筆書であり，花押や自署さえ必ずしも自筆とは限らない。足利将軍，室町殿の発給する直状としてはこのほかに御内書（ごないしよ）があるが，武家の政治文書としては御内書は非公式な文書であって，書状に近く日付に年号を付さない。
