Cobanmushi (small coin beetle) - Ilyocoris exclamationis

Japanese: コバンムシ(小判虫) - コバンムシ（英語表記）Ilyocoris exclamationis

An insect of the Hemiptera family, family Coroboridae. It means an oval-shaped aquatic stink bug, and its English name saucer bug comes from its disc-like shape, while creeping water bug was probably given because of its skill at walking. The larvae are green like the adults, and have a pair of dorsal gland (scent gland) openings on the ventral and dorsal sides. Adults are about 12 mm long, and the membranous part of their hemiptera (forewings) has no veins. The proboscis is short and large. The front legs are powerful predatory legs, and the middle and hind legs are used for both swimming and walking.

半翅目コバンムシ科の昆虫。小判形の水生カメムシの意味で，英名のsaucer bugも円盤状の形からきたもの，またcreeping water bugは歩行が巧みであるためつけられたのだろう。幼虫は成虫と同じように緑色で，腹背に1対の背腺(臭腺)開口がある。成虫は体長12mm前後，半翅鞘(前翅)の膜質部に脈がない。口吻（こうふん）は短くて大きい。前脚は強力な捕獲脚となり，中･後脚は泳ぐのにも歩くのにも使われる。
