1648-1722 (Keian 1-Kyoho 7) A nobleman in the early Edo period. Son of the regent Hisashi. His mother was the daughter of Emperor Gomizunoo. His pen name was Yuzan. His Buddhist name was Oenman'in. After serving as provisional chief counselor and minister of the right, he became minister of the left in 1677 (Enpo 5), regent in 1690 (Genroku 3), and grand minister of state in 1709 (Hoei 6). He became a monk on June 15, 1722 (Kyoho 7), and took the pen name Shogaku. His daughter, Yoshiko, was the wife of Tokugawa Ienobu, and had close ties to the shogunate, and was also on friendly terms with Arai Hakuseki. His diary is called Kiyoshikoki (1665-1722).
