An insect of the Lepidoptera family, Yponomeutidae. Found almost worldwide, its larvae are well known as pests of radishes, Chinese cabbage, turnips, and other Brassicaceae crops. The adult is a small moth with a spread of about 1.5 cm, with white markings on the bottom of its forewings. When it folds its wings and stands still, the white markings on the left and right forewings come together, giving it the appearance of a diamond, hence the name diamond-back moth. Eggs are laid one by one on the leaves. The larvae are caterpillars about 10 mm long that spin threads on the undersides of leaves and feed, leaving only the epidermis.
