Codeine - kodein (English spelling) codeine

Japanese: コデイン - こでいん(英語表記)codeine
Codeine - kodein (English spelling) codeine

It is a type of opium alkaloid that was first isolated from opium by French pharmacist Robiquet in 1832, and is a methyl compound of morphine. It is contained in opium at 1.31-5.39%. It has an action similar to morphine, but is less narcotic and less addictive. It is usually used in medicines as codeine phosphate. It is a representative narcotic cough suppressant used for cough suppression, pain relief, and sedation because it has a sedative effect on the respiratory center. It is used to suppress coughs caused by bronchitis, whooping cough, pulmonary tuberculosis, etc. Its pain relief effect is weaker than morphine, but its cough suppressant effect is strong. 100-fold powder is exempt from narcotic drug regulations and is used as a household narcotic. The usual daily dose is 0.06 grams.
